I WENT FROM NO SWIM NO BIKE TO A FULL IRON MAN

Elizabeth Iversen

I was referred to Coach Dax by my partner’s co-worker because I was looking for someone to help me with nutrition and train for a marathon.

I had run before but I would always hit a wall so I could never really get those long distance runs in because I didn’t understand nutrition. I had my first meeting with Coach Dax, and we talked about what my goals were, and he asked if I had any interest in a triathlon. It was something on my bucket list. I’m a runner, so I was like, well, let’s see, but his enthusiasm was so contagious, and after he got me in the water I was hooked! I loved it!

I signed up for my sprint and an Olympic distance and with his guidance he taught me how to swim effectively because all I would do is sit by a pool. He taught me how to bike because I hadn’t been on a bike since I was a child; and he taught me most importantly, how to fuel. He gave me different examples of things I could use for fueling; he told me how fueling worked the proteins versus the carbs and gave me all the science behind it which, I really enjoyed and then most importantly, he told me when to fuel which, was my biggest hurdle besides learning to swim and bike.

I completed a sprint and an Olympic and signed up for a 70.3 which was something I never thought I would do. I could tell you as soon as I crossed that finish line I knew with Dax’s guidance I would be able to complete a full Ironman which I did after about a year and 1/2 of training with Dax. I WENT FROM NO SWIM NO BIKE TO A FULL IRONMAN so Coach Dax is your guy as long as you want someone who’s gonna be encouraging and supportive.
